Protect your largest investment, your home. A homeowners policy covers physical damage, contents, liability, and sometimes replacement costs.
We currently write:
HO1 - Very limited insurance policy.
HO2 - Basic insurance policy with lower premiums and lower coverages.
HO3 - This is the homeowners insurance policy that is the most popular because of coverages available and covers 16 perils.
HO4 - Renters insurance that covers your contents. Some policies also provide liability insurance as well.
HO5 -This is a homeowners insurance policy that has an "open peril policy" that goes beyond the 16 listed perils on both the dwelling and contents.
HO6 - A condominium policy that is similar to Renters as it covers contents and provides liability protection. You must first contact your condo association to understand the master policy so your agent can fill in the gaps with additional insurance.
HO8 - This policy provides insurance for older homes. *May not cover replacement costs.
DP1,2, 3 - Policies to insure your rental properties.
If you have jewelry, artwork, antiques, tapestries, collectibles, furs, or silver you may want to also add a rider to your policy which will specifically list these items so that in the event of theft or other damages you are protected. You will also be eligible for various discounts if you do not have past homeowners claims, are a multi-policy holder, have an alarm system or own a newer home.
What can you do to protect yourself beyond insurance to limit your risk? You can install a monitored burglary/fire alarm system, install deadbolt locks, fire extinguishers, and smoke alarms on each floor and in each bedroom. It is also important to have your fire extinguishers inspected yearly at the fire department and change the batteries in your smoke alarm on a yearly basis. Never disconnect a smoke alarm, it could mean life or death in the event of a fire. You may also want to purchase an escape ladder to keep on the second floor, especially if you have small children. Your agent can also provide you with a personal inventory booklet where you can list all of the your furniture, personal possessions and valuables. You can also take photographs of each room, closet, and valuables. Be sure to store these photographs along with the inventory listing in a safe place, either in a bank safe deposit box or fireproof safe deposit box.
Our agents will work with you to determine which of the above policies you require and assist you in determining appropriate coverage levels. Homeowners insurance will provide protection for your contents, liability insurance in the event someone is injured on your property and most importantly to rebuild or restore your home after a covered peril. Once you receive your policy if you make any improvements such as building a deck, finishing a basement, building a pool, or renovating any part of your home....please contact your agent to adjust your policy and coverages.
